A Personal Approach To Empowerment
The word hope in the HOPE ministry is an acronym that means to Help Our People Exhale. That phrase describes the aim of our ministry. Our predominate, though not exclusive focus is to empower African Americans through both Pastoral Care and Christian Education. We envision the outcome of our work to be renewal among smaller urban, rural, and suburban churches through creative programs, training of pastors and leaders, and the sharing of finances, facilities, and talent.
The Director
Minister Darek McCullers has been engaging the community through African Centered, Christian based ministry for nearly three decades and as an Authorized (Ordained) United Church of Christ minister since 2012. In addition, he holds the Batchelor of Science in Church Ministries (Mount Olive College) and the Master of Theological Studies and Doctor of Ministry degrees (Hood Theological Seminary). Additional studies have included Clinical Pastoral Education (Carolinas Healthcare System) and Black Theology and Leadership (Princeton Theological Seminary). He is supported in the Ministry by Sherry Lassiter-McCullers.
